Performance polos are designed to handle long days, but high heat and heavy detergents can shorten the life of stretch fibers and printed details. A gentle routine is usually all the shirt needs.
Before washing
Read the garment care label first. Empty pockets, close zippers on other garments and turn the polo inside out. Turning it inside out reduces direct rubbing against the print and outer surface. Wash similar colors together, especially during the first few cycles.
Use cold water and a gentle cycle
Cold water is normally enough for everyday sweat and dirt while placing less stress on color and elastic fibers. Use a modest amount of mild detergent. Too much detergent can remain in the fabric and trap odor. Skip chlorine bleach and fabric softener unless the care label specifically allows them. Fabric softener can coat technical fibers and reduce moisture-management performance.
Treat stains without scrubbing
Rinse grass, soil or drink stains as soon as practical. Apply a small amount of mild liquid detergent to the area and let it sit briefly before washing. Avoid aggressive brushing, which can roughen the fabric surface or damage decoration.
Dry with low heat
Air drying is the gentlest choice. Reshape the collar and hang the shirt away from intense direct sun. If you use a dryer, select low heat and remove the polo promptly. Do not iron directly over logos, transfers or raised details. Store the shirt clean and dry, and avoid leaving it compressed in a golf bag after the round.
